We’ve spoken to members of the Apolitical community to share their top three pieces of career advice with us. In this article, Helen Pearce explains why it’s important to not be afraid of trying something new in their role as a project manager at Services Australia.

Your first piece of advice:

Don't be afraid to try something outside your usual 'area of expertise’. A sideways step could be the best career move.

Your second piece of advice:

You have to do the hard work but sometimes it's OK to say no if it doesn't align with your values.

Your third piece of advice:

Look around. The public service is a huge and varied place. You never know what could be your passion!
