What’s the best advice you ever received? What tips did you wish you knew earlier? How did this help you on your career journey?

We’ve spoken to members of the Apolitical community to share their top three pieces of career advice with us. In this article, Chris Hamden explains why it’s important to regularly take stock and move on in his role as Regional Director in Finance and Administration.

Your first piece of advice: Get involved. Look for opportunities to broaden your breadth of experiences in your organisation - whether on special projects or just internal social committees.

Your second piece of advice: Find ways to make your immediate supervisor’s job easier. Ask how you can help and anticipate their needs and proactively support them.

Your third piece of advice: Don't languish in a dead-end role. Move on to something new if you are dissatisfied with your situation and there doesn't appear to be a light on the horizon. Life is short! However, don't be hasty but explore options to improve your current situation before moving on.
