About Apolitical

Apolitical is the first global peer-to-peer platform for government, helping public servants find the ideas, experts and partners they need to solve the hardest challenges facing our societies. Our network is used in more than 140 countries, including by mayors, ministers and former heads of state.


The role

Our content and communications teams produce in-depth policy journalism, commission opinion writing from our members, and create innovative resources to help public servants learn and develop.

The content and communications researcher will work directly with team leaders, moving flexibly across a range of tasks. You will have the opportunity to learn about a range of diverse policy areas, from education to the digital transformation of government and develop a variety of important skills.

You will script and produce videos, help to research, commission, edit and write articles, use social media to reach new audiences, devise and implement communications campaigns and more. You will also take on administrative work including building and messaging contact lists and sending out newsletters and promotional emails.

Must haves:

  • A love of working flexibly and fast, with the ability to perform under time pressure
  • Some knowledge of and interest in policy and government
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new skills and tools quickly
  • Comfort with taking the initiative in your work and a can-do attitude
  • Excellent time management
  • Good organisational skills and a penchant for administrative work


Desirable skills and attributes

  • In-depth knowledge of one or more of the policy areas Apolitical covers
  • Coding skills
  • Experience working in digital media or running social media campaigns
  • PR or communications experience
  • Shooting and editing video
  • Experience writing or editing for publication
  • Knowledge of Hubspot or a similar email campaigns software
