How to Negotiate in Government

Free Online Workshop | Exclusive for Public Servants & Policymakers | 10 March 2020, 5-6pm (GMT)

The word ‘negotiation’ often calls to mind high-stakes situations like a hostage crisis or multilateral trade agreement. But day-to-day life is full of negotiations, especially for public servants, from working across political parties in order to develop new policies, to asking for a pay rise.

Join this workshop to learn how to make your negotiations more fruitful and focused on collaboration, rather than conflict.

In this workshop, you’ll learn:

  1. How to identify your strengths and weaknesses as a negotiator
  2. Proven techniques for resolving conflict through communication and empathy
  3. Top tips for negotiating a higher salary

Who you’ll hear from:

In this workshop you’ll hear from Natalie Reynolds, CEO and founder of Advantage Spring, a leading negotiation training and coaching centre; Sarah Hoy, Program Analyst at the Ontario Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services; and Karma Call, Director of the Ontario Ministry of Indigenous Affairs.

All registrants will receive a recording. Open to all participants from the public service, civil society, and academia. If you are not yet a member of Apolitical, you will be taken to a signup page that will automatically register you for the workshop.
