How to make city innovation capacity stick
Free Online Workshop
From affordable housing and infrastructure for the youngest and oldest citizens to police recruitment and citizen engagement, city innovation teams are taking on the biggest challenges facing cities today. Often, it can be challenging to secure funding and support for ambitious interventions with the capacity to change people’s lives in sustainable and meaningful ways.
This workshop was held for those who are working on complex issues affecting cities and who wish to learn how to overcome obstacles to achieve lasting change. Leading experts from Bloomberg Philanthropies Innovation Teams (i-teams) Program shared insights on how to:
- Build innovation capacity
- Get buy-in from relevant stakeholders for ambitious projects
- Create lasting change in the lives of residents
The discussion featured Terrance Smith, Director of the Mobile, AL i-team, Adria Finch, Director of the Syracuse i-team, and Alma Castro, Former Director of the Long Beach i-team and current Justice Lab Project Manager. It was moderated by Stephanie Wade, Lead for Innovation Programs and Design at Bloomberg Philanthropies.
This workshop was presented by Apolitical in partnership with the Bernard van Leer Foundation. Our workshops are open to all participants from the public service, civil society, and academia.
