How a pandemic can help us build back green
Free Online Boot Camp | Exclusively for Public Servants & Policymakers
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to unfold and health concerns remain paramount, governments are already taking the first steps towards recovery.
What those steps towards recovery look like will determine the shape of our world’s future.
Poorly designed recovery plans risk further exacerbating social inequalities and the environmental crisis. However, the COVID-19 outbreak represents an unprecedented opportunity for government to build back in a way that improves public health, reduces inequality and addresses the climate crisis.
That’s why Apolitical has partnered with C40 cities to create a boot camp on how government can plan and implement a green and just recovery. Designed for public servants and policymakers, participants will be exposed to expert opinion and writing as well as inventive ideas from cities around the world.
What topics will you cover?
- Lesson 1: A green, just and job-rich COVID-19 recovery
- Lesson 2: How to build back better with a 15-minute city
- Lesson 3: Public transport after COVID-19
- Lesson 4: How to protect communities who are most at risk
- Lesson 5: Regional priorities for a green and equitable recovery
Who will you hear from?
In response to the pandemic, C40 launched the Global Mayors COVID-19 Recovery Task Force to help cities rebuild in a way that improves public health, reduces inequality and addresses the climate crisis toward a more sustainable, more resilient and fairer society. Leading mayors set out their collective vision in a new report Agenda for a Green and Just Recovery, and a complementary set of policy briefs were written by C40 for cities beginning their recovery phases. This boot camp has been created with this content, which can all be found on the C40 Knowledge Hub.
Who should register:
Public servants and policymakers working across government who are interested in how to build back greener and fairer. Whilst the content in this boot camp will focus on what cities can do, should do and are doing, this good practice can often be translated across government.
If you are not yet a member of Apolitical, you will be taken to a signup page that will automatically register you for the session.
